Patient Support
The main aspects of our support to patients and their families are:
- Nurse Led Support Line – One of our most valuable services is the support and information we can provide to families. We offer detailed and extensive telephone and email support, and assist in answering the many questions that can arise before and after medical appointments and consultations. We can help patients and families to understand what a diagnosis means for them and guide on how to implement a treatment plan for the patient. Our nurses leading our Support Line have detailed expert experience of the concerns and conditions we support.
- Peer Support – The support, knowledge and empathy of other people in a similar situation can be tremendously valuable. The CGF facilitates peer support so that patients, young people and families can have contact and learn from the experiences of others.
- Social Media – The CGF hosts and mediates a range of closed Facebook groups for the many growth conditions we support. This is a major route of information transfer and support for patients and families.
- Newsletter – The twice yearly newsletter, CGF News, provides updates from healthcare professionals on recent developments and learnings, a range of patient and family experiences, news from of recent research and studies, updates from the CGF team and other valuable information for the child growth community. You can subscribe to receive our communications, including a digital copy of CGF News, completing the newsletter sign up section on this page, or by visiting our e-news sign up page here.
- Convention – The CGF’s convention provides a unique mix of interaction and talks from leading doctors, consultants, professors nurses and other experts, plus networking, social interaction and the chance for children, youths and adults to meet and spend time with others in the growth community.
Measurement
The CGF believes that correct measurement and recording of all the parameters associated with growth is essential to ensure the correct diagnosis and management of a patient.
The CGF has been instrumental in developing many products and services including growth charts, height and length measures, head circumference tapes. Products can be found at Health for All Children by Harlow Solutions.

External surveys, studies and research projects
The value of patient support groups in undertaking associated research projects is increasing. The CGF is involved in defining research projects, assisting in the provision of cohorts of patients, membership of steering committees and occasional financing.
